Gatwick Airport Ltd extended the working life of its multi-storey car parks, reduced theft and improved user safety by using a special bright white anti-carbonation coating from Glixtone Limited, a member of the Carrs Paints Group. |

The product, designated AC1, is a high-performance elastomeric masonry coating with a twenty year guarantee. It combines high water vapour permeability and low acid gas permeability with a very low diffusion rate for carbon dioxide and of course, its brightness and high reflectivity help provide a more user friendly environment.
Contractors Porch Gatwick applied one coat of Glixtone's stabiliser/primer followed by two coats of AC1. The project was carried out in two phases, each one 50,000 ft².

Three concrete blocks of flats in the Wirral have been protected from bad weather with an anti-carbonation coating produced by Carrs Paints.
The reinforced concrete structure was being weakend by carbonation caused by salts and acid rain.

These were corroding the surrounding concrete to crack and spall. Wirral Council chose the ACI anti-carbonation coating, produced by Glixtone, part of the Carr Paint group.
The coating has a 20-year guarantee thanks to it elastomeric nature which allows more substrate movement than ordinary paint.
The council specified a water-based product, making it safer and easier to apply and carrying less risk of pollution than solvent-based coatings.
